News at Annecy Cinema Italien: after the announcement of a new director, Francesco Giai Via, new dates (September 25 - October 1), and a poster designed by young Italian illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, the upcoming edition features a mutifaceted programme divided into 4 sections. The Competition is dedicated to first- and second-time director's films, both features and documentaries; Prima is a selection of feature and documentary premieres; Viaggio in Italy (Journey to Italy) features homages to directors, producers, themes and tendencies of Italian cinema; Sergio Leone Award is the traditional prize of the festival for an emerging author to be promoted in France thanks to Annecy Cinéma Italien.

The official jury includes director Claudio Giovannesi, scriptwriter and director Adriano Valerio, Directors' Fortnight General Delegate Edouard Waintrop.

The films in competition are: The Stand-In by Ra di Martino, Where Shadows Fall by Valentina Pedicini, Easy by Andrea Magnani, Children of the Night by Andrea De Sica, The Mount of the Ants by Riccardo Palladino, There Is a Light by Fabio Mollo, For a Son by Suranga Deshapriya Katugampala, I Was a Dreamer by Michele Vannucci.

Many films will be featured in the Prima section. These goes from from True Love by Manetti Bros to The Contagion by Botrugno and Coluccini, passing through Sergio Castellitto's Lucky and Gianni Amelio's Holding Hands, just to mention a few. Viaggio in Italia will include a monography on Leonardo Di Costanzo and a focus on Italian TV series. The Sergio Leone Award will be given to Roberto Minervini.
