Nanni Moretti will be the protagonist of a “close encounter” with the audience during the upcoming Rome Film Festival, that will take place from October 26 to November 5, 2017. The Festival is produced by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, chaired by Piera Detassis, and directed by Antonio Monda.

A lucid and uncompromising observer of our society and its cultural and political drifts, Moretti will discuss his long cinematic journey with the audience. In over 40 years, he committed successfully to a number of roles: director-actor in all his films (From Ecce Bombo to Dear Diary, from The Son’s Room to My Mother), actor for other directors (from The Factotum to Quiet Chaos), producer, film exhibitor, film viewer, and jury member.

Artistic Director Antonio Monda comments: “I am enthusiastic that Nanni Moretti will be one of the protagonists of the upcoming Rome Film Festival. His extraordinary career represents one of the liveliest and most interesting pages in the history of Italian cinema. I’m honoured to rethink his artistic journey with the audience, and to delve into the details of his work.” Among the “close encounters” already announced, David Lynch – who will received the Lifetime Achievement Prize – Ian McKellen, Xavier Dolan, Chuck Palahniuk, and Vanessa Redgrave.
