The oldest LGBTQI-themed film festival in Europe, and the third in the world, is back in Turin from April 20 to 24, 2018. Lovers Film Festival is directed by filmmaker Irene Dionisio, while its founder Giovanni Minerba is serving as President of the event, co-founded by him and Ottavio Mai.
Guest of honour of the Opening Night is singer Francesco Gabbani, who will perform live on stage.
The 33rd edition will feature 81 films coming from 24 countries. Among them, 6 world premieres, 4 European premieres, and 52 national premieres.
Closing film is Thelma by Joachim Trier. The director has been recently appointed Jury President of the Cannes Critics' Week. The film tells the story of a shy 20-year-old girl from the Norwegian province who moves to Oslo for her studies. As she falls in love with another girl, the protagonist discovers disquieting supernatural powers.
Among the guests of the festival, also Rupert Everett who will present his The Happy Prince.
