"Cindarella the Cat" in Annecy

Cindarella The Cat is the only Italian film featured in the main competition of the Annecy Animation Film Festival, the most prestigious event of this kind in Europe. This represents another recognition for the all-Neapolitan animation film directed by Alessandro Rak, Ivan Cappiello, Marino Guarnieri, and Dario Sansone, and produced by Mad Entertainment.
The selection in the Annecy competition comes after two David di Donatello Awards in the categories "Best Producer" and "Best Digital Effects". Producers Luciano Stella and Maria Carolina Terzi states: "We are glad to represent Italy in Annecy, a competition which for animations has the same meaning as Cannes for feature films." Annecy opens on June 11th, with over 7.000 industry professional expected from all over the world.
What You Gonna Do When the World’s on Fire by Roberto Minervini wins the Grierson Award for Best Documentary at the London Film Festival. Happy as Lazzaro by Alice Rohrwacher triumphed at the Chicago Film Fest by winning the Golden Hugo for Best Film in the international competition. Laura Bispuri’s Daughter of Mine won the Golden Anchor at the Haifa Film Festival in Israel.
The 56th Viennale (October 25th – November 8th) has announced its program and reserved privileged slots for Italian cinema: Alice Rohrwacher’s Happy as Lazzaro is the Opening Gala, while this year’s Focus is dedicated to Roberto Minervini
A large Italian presence will mark the 41st edition of the AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival, to be held in Hollywood from November 8th to the 15th.
The Festival du cinema italien of Villerupt (October 26th – November 11th) will present around 70 titles including features, documentaries and retrospectives, besides two photographic exhibitions linked to the Emilia Romagna region, which is the focus of the present edition.
