Taormina Film Festival is taking place from July14 to 20 this year. Produced
and organized by Videobank, the festival is directed by Silvia Bizio and
Gianvito Casadonte. In the words of organizer Lino Chiechio: “It will be a festival
for the young, and closer to the city of Taormina. Our aim is to turn this
historical festival into a more popular event, closer to the local audience and
the tourists, with a greater involvement of the associations and local commercial
activities. Following the idea of mayor Mauro Bolognari, we will take the big
stars through the streets of the city in order for the audience to meet them
Artistic director Silvia Bizio states: “I
am glad to share the artistic direction of the festival with Gianvito
Casadonte. I have been working for this festival in the past and managed to
bring to the prestigious Greek Theatre guests like Robert De Niro, Colin Firth,
Michael Douglas, Jessica Lange, and Oliver Stone, just to name a few.”
Casadonte adds: “It will be an edition ‘of passage’, but we’ll do our best to
bring the great starts of Italian and international cinema to the wonderful
setting of the Greek Theatre.”
Documentary director Stefano Savona - author of Samouni Road, winner of the Oeil d'Or for Best Documentary in Cannes this year - will attend the 29th edition of FID Marseille, starting on July 10th.
A celebratrion for Martin Scorsese, guest of honor at “Il cinema ritrovato” film festival.
