Paolo Morales (Rome, 23 August 1956 – 16 January 2013) was an Italian comic writer, scriptwriter, and storyboard artist, closely linked to the film and audio-visual work. In 1998 he worked as scriptwriter and story-editor for Rai-produced animation film Sandokan – The Tiger of Malaysia and TV series, Gennarino the Mastiff, Last of the Mohicans, and Kim. For the big screen, he collaborated on over 30 films, drawing storyboards for Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Michael Hoffman, Clive Donner, Paul Schrader, Ken Annakin, J. Lee Thompson, John Nicolella, Giacomo Campiotti, Ricky Tognazzi, Duccio Tessari, Antonio Margheriti, Alberto Negrin, Terence Hill, Lucio Gaudino, Sergio Sollima, Giuliano Montando, and other.

In particular, for Coppola he drew the complete storyboard of The Godfather – Part III, while for Scorsese he drew the old-timey photos of the protagonists of Gangs of New York.

The Istituzione Pubblica di Assistenza e Beneficienza Asilo Savoia, in collaboration with Scuola Romana dei Fumetti, promotes the first Paolo Morales Scholarship to grant free access to the five-year course of Comic Drawing and Techniques. The scholarship will be awarded to one recipient who will attend the course for free. Deadline for request is 15 September 2017.
