An Italian day under the sign of Vittorio De Sica at the 66th San Sebastian International Film Festival, presenting today the restoration of Bicycle Thieves curated by the Cineteca di Bologna, and to be introduced by Thierry Frémaux. The Artistic Director of the Cannes Film Festival will comment on the neorealist masterpiece and will announce the 10th edition of the Grand Lyon Lumière Festival, too (Lion, October 13-21).

Back in 1974, De Sica presented his last film, The Voyage, in competition at San Sebastian. For the same film, the protagonist Sophia Loren won the Concha de Plata Award for Best Actress.

The screening of Bicycle Thieves will be held in one of the theatres in the Tabakalera, a huge former tobacco factory turn into a contemporary art museum three years ago. Besides the festival structures, the building includes the Basque cinemateque, the Elias Querejeta Film School, and other cultural institutions. For more info: https://www.tabakalera.eu/en
