Francesco Bruni’s Friends by Chance wins the 21st edition of Cinema! Italia! organized by the Made in Italy association with the contribution of Ministry of Culture, Istituto Luce Cinecittà, ICE, and the support of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Institutes of Culture in Germany. Kicked off in September, the even travelled for three months through 36 German cities, with a number of selected directors and actors in attendance. During the screenings, the audience could vote their favorite films. In this way, German distributors had the opportunity to evaluate the audience’s interest towards the titles and Friends by Chance ended up being the most voted one.

Closing night of the event is on December 8th in Berlin, at the Babylon cinema, one of the city’s most important and prestigious theatres. During the award ceremony, to be followed by the screening of the film, Francesco Bruni will receive the award. However, the most important prize will be the theatrical distribution of the film in Germany. Given the appreciation of the audience, the distribution company Kairos Film will in fact acquire the German rights of the film.

The other films participating in the event were: Manetti Bros.’ Love and Bullets, Riccardo Milani’s Like a Cat on a Highway, Vincenzo Marra’s Equilibrium, Sergio Castellitto’s Lucky, Salvatore Allocca’s Taranta on the Road.
