Rotterdam: “Happy as Lazzaro” wins Youth Jury Award
A successful year for Italian cinema at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Alice Rohrwacher’s
Happy as Lazzaro wins the Youth Jury
Award, while Phaim Bhuiyan’s autobiographical comedy Bangla won widespread acclaim from the audience. All ofx this
latter’s screenings went sold out, so the festival had to organize last-minute
reruns. The selections and delegations at the Rotterdam Film Fest have been
organized by Istituto Luce Cinecittà.
The 10th edition of “From Venice to Moscow” will take place from February 20th to 24th and will present nine features from the line-up of the latest Venice Film Festival.
Claudio Giovannesi’s Piranhas will open the 14th edition of the Los Angeles Italia Film Festival to be held at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood from February 17th to 23rd.
After the announcements of the Berlinale, where the presence of Italian films will be strong this year, our national cinema confirms the capacity of break through the main European film festivals. Rotterdam and Göteborg, two of the most established film festivals in the continent, opens their doors once again to our titles.
The Disappearance of My Mother by Beniamino Barrese has been selected in the World Cinema Documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival (January 24th – February 3rd).
