“Happy as Lazzaro” among The Guardian’s films of the year
According to British newspaper “The
Guardian”, Alice Rohrwacher’s Happy as Lazzaro, already Best Script
winner at Cannes 2018, ranks third in the list of this year’s best films,
following Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Noah Baumbach’s Marriage
Story. In the meantime, the retrospective “The Wonders – Alice and Alba
Rohrwacher” wraps at MoMA in New York. Her producer Carlo Cresto-Dina comments:
“For us, working with Alice is an honor and a lesson. She’s one of the most
authentic and surprising voices in world cinema today. The fact that many of
them are Italian and that they are highly regarded abroad, sometimes even more
than in Italy, should make us proud.”
Alice Rohrwacher’s film keeps on
building its consensus: “The Guardian” also included it in the list of the 100
best films of the century, while Indiewire added it the list of the 100 most
important films of the decade.
Italian auteurs are back in force in 2020 with Gianni Amelio, Gabriele Muccino, Carlo Verdone, Gabriele Mainetti, Paolo Genovese and Nanni Moretti.
