The latest, poetic short film by Alice
Rohrwacher, Four Roads, shot in 16mm during the lockdown, is available
exclusively on MUBI from May 14th.
The director presents her work with
the following words: “It’s April. Virus prevents us from being together. I
thought that, as I couldn’t do it with my body, I could’ve been closer to my
neighbors through the eye of my fantasy.”
Four Roads is a delicate and touching look at
life during the pandemic in the small town of Quattro Strade in Umbria. As the
virus excludes any physical contact, Alice Rohrwacher uses her old 16mm camera,
a few meters of expired print and a zoom, to get where her body can’t go.
