Italian cinema will take part in the
26th Busan International Film Festival with nine films. The festival,
whose numbers and size place it as the most important cinematic event in Asia,
will take place physically this year.
The Flash Forward competition,
dedicated to the most innovative first and second features by non-Asian
filmmakers, features Gabriele Mainetti’s Freaks Out; while the
section dedicated to established auteurs, Icons, includes Marco Bellocchio’s
Marx Can Wait, Nanni Moretti’s Three Floors, and Paolo
Sorrentino’s The Hand of God. Three Italian films will be featured
also in the World Cinema section: Jonas Carpignano’s A Chiara and
Laura Samani’s Small Body from Cannes, and Michelangelo
Frammartino’s Il buco from Venice. The Wide Angle section, open to the
new trends in world cinema, includes Steve Della Casa’s and Luca Rea’s
Django & Django, and Pietro Marcello’s Per Lucio.
The selections of the Busan Film
Festival are organized by Cinecittà.
