Sorrentino in the Oscar shortlist
The Hand of God by Paolo Sorrentino made it to the Oscar shortlist for Best International Film. The list includes 15 titles. It’s the first time since 2014 that an Italian film is included in the shortlist, the last one being just Sorrentino’s The Great Beauty, that would then win the award. Other Italian films that made it to the shortlist in recent years are Giuseppe Tornatore’s The Unknown Woman (2008) and Cristina Comencini’s Don’t Tell, that also received a nomination.
The 15 shortlisted films are: The Worst Person in the World (Norway), Drive My Car (Japan), A Hero (Iran), The Hand of God (Italy), Flee (Denmark), I'm Your Man (Germany), Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (Buthan), Prayers for the Stolen (Mexico), Plaza Catedral (Panama), Lamb (Iceland), Hive (Kosovo), Compartment no. 6 (Finland), Playground (Belgium), Great Freedom (Austria),The Good Boss (Spain).
